Policy for unaccredited schools and homeschools

In both cases, please contact the Admissions Center well in advance as we may require additional documents or ask for alternative materials depending on curriculum and educational background.

Policy for applicants who are attending unaccredited schools

Applications should include the following materials in addition to all other required documents and test results:

1. High School Graduation Equivalency Examination (i.e., GED in U.S.A., High School Equivalency Examination in South Korea, etc.)
2. Educational Certification: Two SAT Subject Tests* in addition to SAT (with Essay), OR ACT Plus Writing
3. Detailed, easy-to-read course/curriculum descriptions
4. Resume of activities

Note:

-Students can only apply after they earn the High School Graduation Equivalency Examination. Results must be received by ICU before the application deadline.
-High School Graduation Equivalency Examination and SAT Subject Tests are not required if an applicant is attending a school which uses an accredited distance education/ home-school program or curriculum (e.g. school-assisted home school). Please note that SAT (with Essay) or ACT Plus Writing is still required for Educational Certification.
-Students are encouraged to supplement their school experience by taking classes in community college or selected courses in local high schools. Advanced Placement test results are also welcome.

-*SAT Subject Tests Requirements: Do not take both of the two subjects from the same area, and do not take subject tests of your native language(s) or language(s) spoken at home.

Policy for home-schooled applicants

Applications should include the following materials in addition to all other required documents and test results:
1. Detailed, easy-to-read course/curriculum descriptions
2. Resume of activities
3. A brief description of the factors that led to your decision to home school

Note:
-Students can apply only after they complete the program and are able to show the certification of completion of 12 years of formal education.
-If the program/curriculum that you are following is not accredited, High School Graduation Equivalency Examination and two SAT Subject Tests (from different subject areas), in addition to SAT (with Essay), or ACT Plus Writing are also required. High School Graduation Equivalency Examination and SAT/ACT results must be received by ICU before the application deadline.
-Students are encouraged to supplement their home-school experience by taking classes in community college or selected courses in local high schools. Advanced Placement test results are also welcome.
