Update: March 31, 2017

The Japanese edition of the World University Rankings put together by the British educational magazine the Times Higher Education (THE) each year was released on Thursday, March 30. ICU was ranked 15th overall and 3rd among private universities in Japan.

While the World University Rankings focus on "research excellence," the inaugural Japan University Rankings consist of four broad "pillars"―"resources," "engagement," "outcomes" and "environment"―and 11 individual performance metrics to provide overall evaluations of education at universities in Japan.

In this year's rankings, ICU scored 98.7 points in "engagement" based on an impression survey among high school teachers in charge of university entrance guidance on "global talent development" and "student ability development" at university. ICU also received 83.9 points in "environment" calculated on the basis of the proportion of international students and the proportion of international staff.
