Learning Fields of Interest

French Studies Abroad (4 weeks)

Students enrolling in French Studies Abroad (FSA) will participate in a four-week program of studying French language offered to international students at l'Université de Toulouse Jean Jaurès, located in the southwest of France. Grades are given after a comprehensive assessment taking into account class attendance, evaluation by university faculty, Certificate of Test de connaissance du français (TCF), and a feedback report for ICU professor, and students may receive four credits for French Studies Abroad offered by ICU.

Upon arrival, a placement test for French language classes will be conducted and students will be divided into three to four levels. Students are placed in the classes suitable for their respective language skills together with participants from various countries. The program also includes extracurricular activities and field trips. At the end of the program, all the students take a TCF and the result is incorporated in the grade. During the program, the students also stay with local host families, giving them an opportunity to experience French culture and life.

Overseas Teaching Practicum in Japanese (3 weeks)

Students prepare for teaching practicum outside Japan in a course held once a week in the spring semester and actually practice teaching those who are studying Japanese at a school in the vicinity of Melbourne for three weeks during summer vacation.
