Office for Information on Misconduct in Research Activities

In light of the directive from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology titled "Guidelines on Research Institutions' Management and Auditing of Public Grant Monies" (15 February 2007), ICU has implemented the "Regulations Governing the Prevention of Fraudulent Activities in the University Research" since 1 January 2009. According to those guidelines, the following offices have been established, one which is responsible for taking inquiries from both within and outside the university on matters regarding rules on use of competitive research funds (article 7), and one which accepts reports on misconduct, provides consulting, and offers information on matters related to misconduct in research activities (article 8).

When reporting instances of misconduct, please note the following:
When reporting misconduct, it is necessary to provide your name and contact information, the name of the researcher or research group implicated in the misconduct, a description of misconduct (including what took place and when (what year)), and on what grounds the actions were misconduct in terms of research or use of funds. You may also be asked to cooperate with an investigation into the misconduct reported. If the investigation finds the report was made with malicious intent, the reporter may have his/her name made public, disciplinary action may be taken, and a criminal investigation may be started.
