Dr. Grant Cornwell, President of College of Wooster visits ICU

On Wednesday, March 16th, Dr. Grant Cornell, the President of College of Wooster(Ohio, USA) visited ICU to discuss future collaboration between both universities, and gave a lecture to ICU professors and staff members, The College of Wooster is known for its high quality education especially on the field of science education, and is currently advancing its corporation process with ICU.

"Tenure is extremely important for maintaining the academic freedom, in order to pursue research in depth." Mr. Cornwell explained about tenure, recruitment and training of professors. He also mentioned, "It is especially important to look for a person who can agree with the University's missions when recruiting for professors. It is essential for the professors to help each other to maintain an environment that keeps the desire to improve their teaching abilities."

In order to learn from examples of the forerunner college of training and educating professors, lecture participants asked many questions such as, "What kind of role does a mentor play during the faculty training?" "How can we evaluate faculty's teaching abilities?"
