Completion of Summer Courses in Japanese, Academic Year 2022

Update: August 31, 2022

The Academic Year 2022 Summer Courses in Japanese, which had run for six weeks from July 4, Monday, ended on August 11, Thursday, and a closing ceremony was held on the same day.

Each class gave a performance (speeches, songs, mini presentations, etc.) at the closing ceremony, presenting what they had learned from the equivalent of one regular ICU semester.

As in the last academic year, the 2022 summer courses were conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thirty students from seven countries and territories around the world were divided into classes at six levels, from elementary to advanced levels, for intensive study of Japanese. During the six-week period, exchange activities were also organized in addition to the intensive Japanese courses. The students enjoyed interaction in small groups with ICU students, faculty and staff members, and language buddies who volunteered for these programs, enabling them to improve their language skills while also deepening their understanding of Japanese culture.

Despite the time difference, the students participated enthusiastically. They voiced comments including "I learned about Japanese culture and customs," and "If ever I visit Japan in the future, I would definitely like to go to the ICU campus!"
