Why do so many ICU students go on to graduate school?

Another key feature of ICU is that many of our students choose to go on to graduate school in order to deepen their knowledge of research themes discovered through the study of the liberal arts and with a view to working at an international organization in the future. Roughly 20% of students go on to do further study. Some students choose to study at prestigious graduate schools in Japan and other countries, while some students earn their bachelor's degree and master's degree within a shorter period than usual by taking advantage of ICU's 5-year B.A. and M.A. Program or the Accelerated Entry Program offered by Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. We hope our students will help solve various global problems by using their high level of expertise and their ability to engage in dialogue across multiple academic fields.
