【Call for Participants】〈ICU-Senior High School Collaboration Project〉Reconsidering Peace in Liberal Arts 2026 (In English)

Update:March 24, 2026

International Christian University (ICU) was established in 1953 in the aftermath of World War II with the mission of cultivating individuals who contribute to "peace." Today, our campus remains a vibrant hub for educational and research activities dedicated to this pursuit.

This workshop is co-hosted by ICU and Middlebury College, a top-tier U.S. liberal arts college and one of ICU's partner institutions. The curriculum has been redesigned for high school students based on the "Critical Issues Forum" organized by the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

Engaging with English-language lectures from ICU faculty and Middlebury College (via online sessions) will be a significant challenge. However, these four days of rigorous thinking about "peace" in English offer a profound and immersive learning experience.

Participants from diverse backgrounds and values--both from Japan and abroad--will stay in an on-campus dormitory, engaging in deep exploration through intensive discussions and group work.

* This program is designed to be accessible to all students, regardless of whether they are currently focusing on humanities or sciences in high school.
