Why are racism and LGBTQ+ phobia so prevalent in Central Europe?
How different is their racism from one in the U.S.?
Based on Ivan Kalmar's 2022 book White But Not Quite (Bristol University Press | White But Not Quite - Central Europe's Illiberal Revolt, By Ivan Kalmar) and its Japanese translation 『白人になれない白人たち:中欧の反リベラリズムとレイシズム』(加藤恵津子・神原ゆうこ・坂田敦志訳、彩流社 2025; 白人になれない白人たち -彩流社), this lecture-and-symposium explores new definitions and dimensions of racism and phobia, along with their implications as global threats to human rights and dignity.
