Summer Courses in Japanese End

Update: August 18, 2016

The Summer Courses in Japanese, which began on July 5 (Tues) and lasted for 6 weeks, ended on August 16 (Tues), and a send-off party was held on August 15 (Mon).

ICU Director of Japanese Language Programs, Professor Kazumi Tanaka served as moderator, speaking in Japanese. Many students who could not understand spoken Japanese when the course first began were listening to her speak, nodding in comprehension. Students from 19 different countries and regions who participated in the course had an enjoyable time conversing with their friends and faculty... in Japanese!

During the 6-week course, students not only studied Japanese language but also Japanese culture, and experienced sado (Japanese tea ceremony), traditional Japanese dance, and even had a chance to make Japanese-style cloth sandals.

Comments from the summer course students:

  • The summer course is a terrific program, one of the best to learn Japanese. I wish I can come back some day to take this course again.
  • There were various kinds of interesting Japanese culture programs, through which I was able to experience Japanese culture at first hand. I appreciate it so much.
  • I am so sad the summer course is over now. This valuable experience has become a memory of lifetime that I will never forget. I will share my memories with my family and friends when I go back home.
