Announcement of the Names of the Two New Student Dormitories

Update: October 1, 2016

The names have been decided for the two new dormitories to be opened in April 2017.

Name suggestions were solicited from among ICU students, faculty and alumni during the period from June to August 2016 and the following names were selected from the 69 name suggestions received.

South Wing (7 story building) Capacity: 192 residents
English name: Momi House Japanese name: Momi-no-ki Ryo

North Wing (5 story building) Capacity: 128 residents
English name: Maple House Japanese name: Kaede Ryo

Concept of the names
Following suit with existing dormitory names Zelkova House, Ginkgo House and Oak House, the new dormitory names were taken from tree species inhabiting our lush campus. The Maple House was named after the former Maple Grove that used to be on campus and the Momi House evokes the Christmas tree in front of University Chapel.
