Update: December 15, 2017

A special lecture on the topic of "The Current State of the Washington Convention and Issues It Faces" was given by Junya Nakano (Director, Office of Trade Licensing for Wild Animal and Plants, Trade Control Department, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)), who is in charge of matters related to the Washington Convention at METI, on December 14 (Thur.) as part of the International Organization class given by Professor Takako Ueta (Majors: International Relations, Politics. The foreign ministry's former Deputy Chief of the Mission of Japan to the EU).

Those in attendance took a great interest in the fascinating subject matter of the special lecture given by Mr. Nakano, including a summary of the Washington Convention, which is an international regulation to protect species of endangered wild plants and animals, and the current state of its implementation, as well as a description of what took place at an international conference he attended in November of this year.
