Farewell Party for International Students Held

Update: June 8, 2016

On June 7 (Tues), a farewell party was held for international students who have studied at ICU from September 2015 to June 2016 and are soon going back home.

Dean of Students, Professor Tatsuo Nunoshiba was in charge of the proceedings. The party was opened with a message from Major Coordinator of Japan Studies, Associate Professor Christopher Bondy and an opening speech by Director of International Educational Exchange, Senior Associate Professor Jung Joo-Young.

The participants enjoyed pleasant talks among each other, and in between, two students gave speeches in Japanese as representatives of the international students. They looked back on their days in ICU saying "I found that ICU was a place for dialogue," "I was able to learn so much," "I was able to learn practical Japanese as a living language," and expressed their gratitude to the school faculty.

Other students also gave remarks on how meaningful their experience in ICU was. "Courses given in Japanese were so difficult," "I applied the expressions I learned in the Japanese Language Programs to my daily conversations with Japanese students in the dormitory. Through this practice, I could familiarize with Japanese," "ICU has a very similar atmosphere as the university I attend back in the United States, which is also a liberal arts university like ICU. I really love the bilingual environment of ICU."
