In Speedgolf, players compete how fast they can complete the round with a good score using seven or fewer clubs. If a player shoots 80 in one round taking 60 minutes, the speedgolf score (SGS) is 140, the sum of 80 and 60.
Comment from Miyazaki:
I started playing golf when I was three and began participating in competitions when I was five. Until now, I have participated in international junior golf tours and national tournaments. Currently, along with practicing golf, I also appear in golf TV programs and work as an announcer. I am very much delighted to have participated in this speedgolf tournament, which is a new sport, for the first time and won the title.
Speedgolf requires speed in addition to golfing skills, so I began running on the running machine at ICU's physical education facility in the spring term in preparation for the tournament. I was able to achieve a record for female players in this tournament, so I would like to win in the professional division in the next tournament. Speedgolf is yet to become popular in Japan as a competition, and I would like to take on the challenge of playing at major tournaments in the U.S. and other places.
