ICU Glee Club Holds Joint Concert with Penn Glee Club

On June 1 (Sat.), the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) Glee Club (Penn Glee Club) visited ICU and held a joint concert with ICU Glee Club at the university chapel. The concert was part of the Asian tour of Penn Glee Club and it was the first time for them to perform at ICU.

Though the joint practice session on the day of the concert was less than an hour, both ICU Glee Club and Penn Glee Club delivered a brilliant performance. In particular, Penn Glee Club, being a men's chorus, the male voice was deeper than the ICU Glee Club's chorus.

After the concert, ICU President Junko Hibiya, who was instrumental in bringing Penn Glee Club and ICU Glee Club together for the event, joined the groups for a social get-together at the Dining Hall. Before the toast, Penn Glee Club performed the club's traditional song. The members of Penn Glee Club, who were solemn and determined during the concert, were seen cheerfully mingling with the ICU Glee Club members at the party.

We had a great time throughout the joint concert held this time. I think this was a special event in the history of ICU Glee Club. We don't have much of a history when compared to the 157-year history of Penn Glee Club, but we hope to grow like them with the support of as many people as possible. Though it was just a short two-hour period, we believe we were able to gift a lot to the audience. I would like to thank everyone who came to listen to the concert and those who planned and cooperated in holding it.
