Senior Associate Professor Eckhard Hitzer Received Academic Awards by the SCIS&ISIS2020 Award Committee

Update: March 29, 2021

The Joint 11th International Conference on Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems and 21st International Symposium on Advanced Intelligent Systems Online Conference (SCIS&ISIS2020) presented its Best Presentation Award to Senior Associate Professor Eckhard Hitzer (major: Physics) for the online conference presentation entitled: Strip Adjustment of Airborne Laserscanning Data with Conformal Geometric Algebra, co-authored with Werner Benger, Manfred Niederwieser, Ramona Baran, and Frank Steinbacher, all of Airborne Hydromapping GmbH in Innsbruck, Austria.

He also received its Good Moderator Award for the moderation of part of the Organized Session OS-14, entitled: Modern Applications of Clifford Algebra.

The paper awarded with the Best Presentation Award aims at improving the precision and speed of airborne laserscanning survey based on the novel mathematical foundation of Conformal Geometric Algebra. Senior Associate Professor Hitzer is a specialist in Conformal Geometric Algebra and its applications.

As for the Good Moderator Award, it was the first time for Senior Associate Prof. Hitzer and his two colleagues Prof. Tachibana and Prof. Uruma to jointly organize a session on this topic. During the first two decades of the 3rd millennium, Clifford geometric algebras have emerged as a universal tool for all branches of science, technology and engineering. Optimized software development across all platforms has become available with powerful payoffs for geometric intuition, efficiency, speed, adaptability, unified data representation, holistic computing, elegance of expression, etc. The Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE) working group on Applications of Clifford Algebra (chaired by Prof. Tachibana) initiated the special session Modern Applications of Clifford Algebra (MACA) at SCIS&ISIS2020 together with Senior Associate Prof. Hitzer and Prof. Uruma.

Comment from Senior Associate Professor Eckhard Hitzer :

Thank you very much for awarding me (and my co-authors) the best presentation award and good moderator award. We are very honored to receive such awards, completely beyond our expectations. It was certainly a very interesting experience to participate in the conference and assisting with session moderation as well. I wish the SCIS&ISIS2020 organizers all the best for future editions of the conference. I hope to continue to contribute to better performance and resource saving development of ecologically oriented nature mapping and green survey technology.
