In-Person Open Campus Day 2022 for Guarantors of ICU Students Held for the First Time in Five Years

Update: December 9, 2022

In-person open campus for the guarantors of current students was held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 for the first time in five years. The open campus for the guarantors of current students provides an important opportunity for the guarantors to visit the campus' rich natural environment and develop a deeper understanding about ICU's educational purpose and current situation. The event was attended by approximately 1,000 people.

The keynote speech, the "Administrator Lecture", consisted of an introduction presented by ICU's President Shoichiro Iwakiri, which was followed by "Current status of education" by Yoshito Ishio, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, "Current status of campus life" by Takashi Kibe, Dean of Students, and an introduction on the history of learning at ICU by Tetsuro Tomioka, Managing Trustee for General Affairs.

The Placement Guidance focused on the current situation regarding the careers of ICU students, the "5-Year Program" where students can obtain a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in a period of five years, ICU's career support, and the changes which are occurring when searching for a job due to the COVID-19 situation. With big changes taking place in the process and environment surrounding the search for a job, we explained the latest situation on the job market. At the Study Abroad Guidance, we introduced the characteristics of ICU's study abroad program, the procedures involved in the study abroad program, and the support system for studying abroad. We also talked about the latest study abroad programs available, including the new "LearnUs Global Semester Program" which was developed by ICU and Yonsei University Underwood International College (UIC), ICU's exchange partner.

Furthermore, we also held various programs including individual consultations and campus tours. Organized on campus among the changing colors of the trees, the event was held in person for the first time in five years, and it enabled us to introduce ICU's current situation, as well as providing an important opportunity for the faculty and administration to speak directly with the guarantors of current students.
