Dr. Tevita Suka Mangisi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Tonga to Japan, Visits ICU

On Monday, April 17, Dr. Tevita Suka Mangisi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Tonga to Japan, visited ICU, and held discussions with the university students, toured the campus, and met the President Shoichiro Iwakiri to exchange opinions about a future cooperation.
The Ambassador's visit to the university arose through his interactions with an ICU student and his subsequent interest in the activities of our university which are founded on Christian ideals with the aim of nurturing global leaders.

Following a tour of the vibrant campus in the start of the spring term, the Ambassador took part in a discussion with over ten students where he talked about his considerable experience in the United Nations as well as a lawyer and diplomat all over the world. He also held a lively discussion with the students which covered a wide range of themes including SDGs, climate change, and cross-cultural communication.
After the discussion, the Ambassador met with President Shoichiro Iwakiri, Robert Eskildsen, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mark Williams, Vice President for Academic International Exchange where they exchanged opinions regarding cooperation between Japan and the Kingdom of Tonga.
