Obituary: Takeshi Nagata, Professor Emeritus, Passes Away at 75

Takeshi Nagata, Professor Emeritus of International Christian University (ICU), passed away on September 4, 2023 at the age of 75. a funeral service was held mainly for the next of kin.

Professor Nagata has, arriving at ICU as a pastor of University Church in March 1980, A Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1981,been engaged in education, research and ministry as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. He majors in the New Testament Studies. His research interests cover Islamic studies.

Professor Nagata has served on numerous committees. Especially from 2002 to 2013, he was the director of the Religious Center and the senior minister for the ICU church. Through the Sunday worship and the University Chapel Hour service, he has been a spiritual leader for students and the congregation. His teachings in Christ are curved with a deep sense of gratitude in the heart of his former students and colleagues.
