Introducing ICU's New University Logo

Update: November 30, 2023

We are excited to announce that we have completed a new design to replace the current university logo, which we have been using since 2016.

New University Logos

Concept of Our New Logos

ICU's logo utilizes a typeface uniquely designed for and owned by ICU for wide use by people everywhere. The graphic of trees in our logo symbolizes the abundance of nature on our campus and the rich liberal arts curriculum that allows our students to unfurl their branches and achieve their greatest potential.

The Latin phrase, "Artes et Scientiae", translated to "Arts and Sciences" in English, typically refers to Humanities and Social Sciences as "Arts" and the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as "Sciences". The Latin phrase is utilized because the Latin root "sci" means "to know", highlighting that knowledge is the foundation of all studies, and we also use it to point to the scholarship, skills, and techniques that give form to that knowledge in the real world. It depicts the university as a Integration of Knowledge and skills from diverse disciplines and areas of study.

We have applied for trademark registration for the university logo with the Japan Patent Office. Please note that unauthorized use will infringe on trademark rights. Please click here for the university logo usage application form and other information regarding usage.
