Momi House and Maple House Organize a Mochitsuki Event

Update: February 2, 2024

A mochitsuki event, organized by the dormitory students at ICU's Momi House and Maple House, was held on Saturday, January 27 in the Wisteria Hall, located on the first floor of the dormitory.

This event was carried out by current dormitory students (mainly the newly entered dormitory students) who have inherited this traditional event from the former Second Men's Dormitory.
On the day of the event, a large number of dormitory students, commuting students, members of the Kenrokai, which is the alumni association of the former Second Men's Dormitory, as well as faculty and staff members along with their families gathered together. Transcending the boundaries of different generations and small communities, the participants pounded rice together, enjoyed eating the freshly pounded rice, and deepened their interaction. The event provided an important opportunity for the participants to restart a dialogue, which is fundamental to ICU, and which had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Numerous events, such as this mochitsuki event, are organized throughout the year to connect alumni from the dormitories with current dormitory students.
We plan to turn the mochitsuki event into an annual event. Furthermore, we sincerely hope that the event will be attended by not only the alumni of the dormitories, but also by all ICU alumni, individuals related to the school, and current dormitory students.
