NOHA Tohoku Study Tour

Update: February 14, 2024

A study tour visiting Tohoku region devastatingly hit by the Great East Japan earthquake in 2011 was held between November 27 (Mon.) and November 29 (Wed.),2023 as one of the NOHA (Network on Humanitarian Action) program in which ICU graduate school participates. While this study tour has been held online due to the pandemic for two years, participants could actually visit the site again this year, as they did last year.

Participants visited Iwate Tsunami Memorial Museum, Takata Matsubara Tsunami Reconstruction Memorial Park, etc. in Rikuzentakata city, a disaster-affected area. They could learn a lot through the dialogue with the local municipalities, the local communities and the individuals who played the important roles for reconstruction. This study tour turned out to be a meaningful and practical course.
