Rotary International President Visited ICU Rotary Peace Center

Update: December 24, 2024

The 2024-25 President of Rotary International Stephanie A. Urchick visited ICU Rotary Peace Center with Aide to RI President Tom Gump and Rotary International members on December 11, 2024.

A Director and Associate Director of ICU Rotary Peace Center took them on a campus tour. Following the campus tour, two Rotary Peace Fellows, who study Peace Studies at ICU Graduate School, gave presentations to the President and Rotary International members. They shared their experiences of the Hiroshima field trip, Applied Field Experience (AFE)*, and daily exchanges with local Rotarians. These presentations generated the active discussion among the President and Peace Fellows.

As our Rotary Peace Center is the only center located in Japan, ICU Rotary Peace center offered the Japanese tea ceremony in Taizan-so, a traditional Japanese teahouse and registered tangible cultural property located in our campus, with the cooperation of ICU Tea Ceremony Club. In addition, they also enjoyed the Koto (Japanese traditional harp) performed by the Koto Club.

ICU Rotary Peace Center's hope is that this visit will lead to the future development of the Rotary Peace Fellowship at International Christian University.
