Mochitsuki Gathering Organized by Current Dormitory Students was Held
Update: February 13, 2025

The place where the present Momi & Maple House currently stand was formerly the site of the Second Men's Dormitory.
One of the Second Men's Dormitory traditions was to hold an annual mochitsuki (rice cake pounding) event.
Even now, the Second Men's Dormitory's alumni association (also known as Kenrokai) continues to treasure their dorm memories and maintain bonds even long after graduation. Furthermore, inheriting this ethos, current dormitory students organized a mochitsuki event on Sunday, January 26th in Wisteria Hall, which is on the 1st floor of Momi & Maple House, as well as the adjacent courtyard.
On the day of the event, people from all generations, including current ICU students from all dormitories, Second Men's Dormitory alumni, other former dormitory residents, relevant staff members, and their families, gathered to pound mochi and enjoyed eating freshly pounded mochi together.
Dynamic interaction that transcends generations was there, and this event became a brief moment in which people once again felt the importance of "dormitories", a place you could call home. There is true significance in providing a space where people who cherish ICU and its dormitories can come together, whether it be during or after their time on campus.
As a symbol of connection between current and former dormitory students, as well as current students and alumni, this mochi-pounding event will be held once again next year, with even more energy. For the next event, there are plans to expand its scale by involving not only current and former dormitory students but also university staff and all other ICU alumni. We sincerely look forward to your participation!
