New Dormitory Residents' Welcome and Interaction Event

Update: April 14, 2025

On Friday, April 4, 2025, a Welcome and Interaction Event for new dormitory residents was held at the university cafeteria on the ICU campus. Aimed at strengthening the bonds among dormitory residents, the event brought together approximately 150 students who had recently moved into the dorms. Around 20 senior dormitory residents also took part, helping to form groups and contributing to the event's lively and welcoming atmosphere.

Event Overview

The event began with a greeting from Professor Kibe, the Dean of Students, followed by introductions of the new residents by dormitory. Participants were then divided into groups based on various themes, providing an opportunity for deeper connection and communication.

The first icebreaker activity was themed "Find people from the same prefecture/region/country!"--a fun and easy way for participants to find common ground. Subsequent themes included "People who dislike the same food" and "People with the same birth month," which further encouraged conversation and bonding.

Participants were also invited to place stickers on maps of Japan and the world to mark their hometowns. This sparked lively conversations about their backgrounds and cultures, fostering even more meaningful interactions.

Throughout the event, the energy and enthusiasm of the new residents filled the space, and the atmosphere remained vibrant from start to finish. Many participants expressed excitement and optimism about their new dormitory life, leaving a lasting impression. We hope this event helped the new residents build strong connections and that they will have an even more fulfilling dormitory experience from here on.
