President Iwakiri attended the "Higher Education Leadership Summit 2026," held over two days from July 3 to July 4, 2026, at Singapore Management University (SMU).
The summit was organized as part of a leadership program by the United Board, tailored for higher education institutions in Asia. Under the central theme, "Leading the Next Decade of Christian Higher Education in Asia," university presidents and leaders from across the region gathered for the event.
During the summit, President Iwakiri participated in sessions and workshops covering the following key themes, engaging in fruitful discussions with university representatives and experts from various countries:
- The Future of Work:Adapting curriculum and student support to the rise of AI, and exploring optimal collaboration between humans and AI.
- Searcity to Sustainability: New Business Models for Higher Education:Developing new institutional roadmaps in response to shifting demographic trends and financial environments.
- AI Adoption:Utilizing AI in educational settings and creating strategic frameworks to build institution-wide AI literacy.
- Climate Risk & Sustainability Governance:Transforming environmental challenges into strategic opportunities and integrating them into institutional governance.
The invaluable insights gained from this summit will be used to further enhance our university's education and strengthen our international collaborations in Asia.
