September New Student Retreat

Update: September 9, 2026

On September 5, ICU held the New Student Retreat on campus for students entering the College of Liberal Arts in September 2026. The retreat is a long-standing ICU tradition that has continued for more than 60 years, providing opportunities for new students to build connections with one another while deepening their understanding of ICU's history, mission, and campus community.

The program began with icebreaker activities in the gymnasium, where participants interacted and got to know one another through a variety of group activities. This was followed by The Story of ICU and Us, a session introducing the history and founding principles of ICU. Students also exchanged ideas about their reasons for choosing ICU and their aspirations for university life.

The retreat continued with the ICU Discovery Tour, guided by student volunteers who entered ICU in April. The volunteers introduced campus facilities and shared some of their favorite spots on campus. Following the tour, participants gathered in the university cafeteria and on the lawn area for informal networking activities, where they enjoyed conversations in a relaxed atmosphere and listened to live music performed by senior students.

Throughout the retreat, the new students formed new friendships and strengthened their sense of belonging to the ICU community as they looked forward to the beginning of their university life at ICU.
