Language Tables × Library Wizards Collaboration Event

On Monday, October 26, 2026, Language Tables and Library Wizards jointly hosted the "Language Tables × Library Wizards Collaboration Event" at U-hub on the first floor of the Othmer Library.
The event brought together Language Tables, which promotes multilingual and multicultural exchange on campus, and Library Wizards, a student group that works to share the appeal of the ICU Library and enhance the library environment from a student perspective. The collaboration was organized around the theme of "exploring different cultures through picture books."

For the event, Library Wizards selected picture books in seven languages: Japanese, English, Chinese, French, Korean, Spanish, and German. Participants joined the table of the language that interested them. After a brief introduction to each story by the table hosts, the conversations naturally expanded to the cultures behind the stories and the different nuances of expressions across languages, sparking lively conversations at each table.
The collaboration provided a valuable opportunity for two student groups, which usually focus on different areas, to bring their ideas together from the planning stages and take on something new.
Using familiar and approachable picture books as a starting point, the event offered participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding not only of language, but also of different cultures and values. Another significant outcome was the new connections that formed across the two student groups.
