C-Week held
Update: May 27, 2019
ICU Christianity Week (C-Week) was held from May 20 (Mon.) to May 25 (Sat.). Held over one week in late May every year, the students take initiatives in planning the week as an opportunity to think about Christianity from diverse perspectives. Every year, various events such as prayers, lectures, concerts and open house (visiting faculty members' homes) were organized and this year, it was held under the theme of "Seeking Solace with You."
On May 22 (Wed.), a special church service was held with Heikichi Arima, the representative of Akikawa Christian Assembly and the former head of the Christianity Department at ICU High School, as the guest speaker. He talked about solace (comfort, healing), the theme of the C-Week this academic year.
His message was that solace is something indispensable to humans, but instead of something temporary, which would eventually dry up like the healing boom nowadays, he hoped the audience would go back to the fundamental spirit of Christianity and find healing and comfort that would never go dry.
The Labyrinth walk was held for the 20th time on May 23 (Thu.) and May 24 (Fri.), since it was first opened to the public in Japan during the C-Week in 1999. The Labyrinth is a type of holy pattern seen in many cultures and religions around the world. It is not a maze, but a winding sacred path on which a person walks and faces oneself. Over the two days, many students walked the path, while a musician played a harp in the background.
