66Why does ICU have Japan’s only Rotary Peace Center?
The establishment of a Rotary Peace Center at ICU is related to ICU's mission of contribution to eternal peace.
Rotary Peace Centers are centers that aim to develop leaders who become catalysts for peace and conflict prevention and to build a global network of proponents of peace. These Centers, which have been established at seven graduate schools in six countries around the world, including ICU, offer Master's degree programs or specialist skills development programs.
ICU established its Rotary Peace Center in 1999 with the cooperation of Rotary International. Every year since 2002, it has accepted around 10 students, known as Rotary Peace Fellows. These Fellows belong to the Graduate School's Master's Degree program, where they engage in research of global issues, with a focus on peace and conflict resolution, eventually obtaining a Master's Degree.
