Representatives in Japan of Eight International Financial Institutions Visit ICU
Update: December 23, 2019
On December 19 (Thurs.), representatives in Japan of eight international financial institutions got together and held a career forum for the students of ICU on the theme of "working in an international financial institution."
Following the launch in April 2019 of the "Diplomatic and International Public Service Program" and the "Responsible Global Corporate Executives and Financial Professionals Training Program" at the ICU Graduate School, this forum also came about as a result of the initiative by Prof. Jun Saito, visiting professor at ICU (majors: Economics and Global Studies), fueled by his desire to see more of ICU graduates in international financial institutions. Prof. Saito, who has worked for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), consulted with the World Bank (WB) and subsequently secured the cooperation of other financial institutions to convene the event.
In addition to the IMF and the WB, representatives in Japan of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), Asian Development Bank (ADB), African Development Bank (AfDB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) visited the university and talked on themes such as the roles of an international financial institution, the work they do, the types of human resources they are looking for, and potential career paths.
Further, after the conclusion of the forum, individual consultations for ICU students were held, and undergraduate and graduate students of the university aiming to work for international institutions in the future were seen asking questions actively.
