ICU Special Donation Appeal
Emergency COVID-19 Fund
Update: May 20, 2020

In an attempt to stop the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), the demands for cessation of business activities due to lock-downs around the world and emergency declarations in Japan have led to economic stagnation. ICU is not immune to such economic ramifications, and we have seen a rise in the number of students who are confronting economic issues that risk jeopardizing their ongoing studies (whether this be as a result of shrinking incomes of parents and guardians who are providing student fees or the loss of income from students' own part time jobs).
At ICU, we have decided to establish a special hardship relief fund that will provide grants to those students who have suffered economic losses as a result of the measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and whose academic futures are consequently in danger. To date, in conjunction with the roll-out of online teaching for the Spring term, we have offered academic help to students in a variety of ways: by lending laptop computers and other ICT equipment, by shipping books from the library, etc. The current fund is designed to offer financial support to students suffering economic hardship.
Ever since its foundation, ICU has received the support of countless benefactors as it has striven to nurture citizens committed to "serving God and man". We are determined that no student who, from a variety of alternative options, has chosen our University which offers a Liberal Arts educational program built around the three pillars of embracing global concerns, a Christian vision and academic rigor, should be forced to leave our campus on account of COVID-19. To all those who love ICU, to all those who concur with ICU's approach to education and research, to all those who care for the futures of our ICU graduates: we are writing today to respectfully request your generous support. We are already in receipt of generous support from the ICU Alumni Association and from the Japan ICU Foundation (JICUF).
We are all experiencing unease and restrictions on our lifestyles. In such times, your support for students struggling to pay their university fees in this current crisis is much appreciated.
