Poster Session in General Education Course Environmental Studies

Update: June 18, 2019

The poster session event, a group project in ICU's general education course Environmental Studies, was held on June 12 (Wed.) and June 14 (Fri.). In Environmental Studies, students acquire multi-faceted perspectives and comprehensive ways of thinking regarding the environment surrounding human beings and learn approaches, knowledge and skills required for mitigating and solving problems. A total of 24 posters were presented based on themes such as "The garbage issue in Japan and the situation inside ICU," "Where plastics go after being discarded," and "Protection of endangered species on campus".

In this event, in addition to the 150 students taking Environmental Studies, about 80 students taking Development and Education, an Education major course, also participated and the students carried out discussions in groups on the environmental issues they selected in the poster session.

"Re-repacks, recyclable take-away containers, introduced at the Dining Hall was created based on an idea born from this poster session, and it is a course in which students can think and act on their own. Many students are taking the course, and listening to opinions of various students at the poster session broadens our view," a student said.
