Update: July 10, 2019

Japan Summer Service-Learning Program (JSSL) started on Wed, July 3.
JSSL is a joint Service-Learning program with Middlebury College (Vermont, U.S.), celebrating the fourth time at ICU in this year. A total of 16 students joined from partner universities of Service-Learning Asia Network (※1) as well as Middlebury College
On July 8, students visited a blueberry farm near ICU campus and learned about urban agriculture in Mitaka City. To discuss the Japanese society from various points of view, the students are participating in service-activities at farms, elementary schools, facilities for elderly adults in Mitaka city and will be going to Tenryu village, Nagano prefecture
Through the current experiences, JSSL students commented: "At first, I was puzzled by cultural differences, but now I can enjoy the differences. I'm looking forward to working with other students in the community" (Student from the Philippines), "Even just walking in Mitaka city, some international students asked me about various questions, which made me rediscover what I usually missed." (ICU student), "I'm excited to communicate with friends from various countries. I would like to expand the network with participants and the community through this program." (Middlebury student)
The students will have a final presentation session on July 30 to present their experiences and learnings throughout the program.
