Campus Accessibility Tour: Organized by the Special Needs Support Services Office
Update: January 30, 2024

Organized by ICU's Special Needs Support Services Office, the Campus Accessibility Tour was held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Troyer Memorial Arts and Sciences Hall (T-kan). A total of 27 participants toured the building, and they included students (including those who use the Special Needs Support Services Office), faculty and staff members, as well as individuals who took part in the design of the T-kan and who may be involved in the renovation of the University Hall.
During the tour, participants discussed the building's usage of universal design, such as the size of the corridors, which allow for easy movement using a wheelchair or walking stick, as well as the tactile classroom signs. The participants were also able to actually experience the elevator's capacity, which can accommodate two wheelchairs as well as several additional people. Visually impaired students mentioned that they found the tactile guide map of the building useful where they could use their fingers to confirm the classroom numbers and structure and asked to have similar tactile guide maps installed in the other buildings.
