Update: May 20, 2024

The Spring Evening Tea Ceremony was held on April 26 and 27 at the nationally registered tangible cultural property "Taizansō" on campus.

After the COVID- 19 pandemic, it was the first ceremony to invite visitors in 5 years. Tea ceremonies were held five times a day and welcomed students and faculty members to participate.
60 individuals were able to enjoy tea poured by the club members over the two-day event. It was no doubt a quiet and enriching time for both students and faculty members.

Comments from Moka Yamayoshi (2nd year, College of Liberal Arts), the representative of ICU's Tea Ceremony Club, who was in charge of planning and organizing the event:
This Spring Evening Tea Ceremony was the first tea ceremony run by the second-year students. Sei Shonagon said that spring is dawn, but the Chinese poet Su Shi left us with the words, "the spring night is worth a thousand gold". It was a pleasure to spend time with you all, reminiscing over and enjoying the last days of spring. We are planning to hold this event again next year, so please feel free to join us then. The next tea party will be held at the ICU Festival. We are looking forward to seeing you at Taizansō!
