The Student-Organized Peace Event, "Echoing the Voice of Nagasaki," Was Held.

Update: May 20, 2025

On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the event "Echoing the Voice of Nagasaki" was held, organized by students who participated in service-learning program in Nagasaki and ICU students from Nagasaki.

This event was held in two parts, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The morning session was held in the International Conference Room as an open class for "Peace Studies I," while the afternoon session was held in a classroom in the University Hall as an open event in the form of a roundtable discussion.
The morning session featured a testimonial by Mr. Seiichiro Mise, hibakusha (atomic bomb survivor) from Nagasaki, followed by a lecture on nuclear weapons issues and international treaties by Professor Fumihiko Yoshida from Nagasaki University Research Center for Nuclear Weapons Abolition. Approximately 70 participants listened attentively. During the subsequent Q&A session, participants actively asked questions, providing an opportunity to deepen their thoughts on peace.
About 15 participants joined the afternoon session, where discussions fostered a deeper understanding and provided new insights.

In this milestone year, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the event provided a valuable opportunity at ICU to reflect deeply on peace.
