We appreciate that some of you who are currently studying in the USA or who plan to start their studies there in the near future (on both undergraduate or graduate programs) may be experiencing difficulties in acquiring the necessary visa. In order to guarantee opportunities for ongoing study and research for such students, we will admit up to 5 students to study as "credit-seeking temporary students" during our Autumn term (starting in September). This opportunity is open to all Japanese nationals or those with leave to remain in Japan, and successful applicants will be determined by means of documentary screening. These students will also be eligible to apply to transfer into ICU as full-time, regular students from April or September 2026.

International Christian University (ICU) was founded in 1953 following a concerted fund-raising campaign in the US and Japan and cites the nurturing of citizens who will contribute to world peace as its core mission. Since its foundation, it has supported education and research that is rooted in ecumenical Christianity and has prided itself on accepting students from around the world, irrespective of nationality or religion. Established as a Liberal Arts college with a genuinely Japanese-English bilingual environment, the undergraduate college offers 31 majors in the arts, social and natural sciences, and the graduate school offers a plethora of opportunities (at MA and PhD level) in its Division of Arts and Sciences.

Beginning with its acceptance of a series of Syrian and Ukrainian refugee students, ICU continues to reach out to talented individuals who, for political reasons, have found their studies temporarily interrupted. We are committed to working with the Japanese government and JASSO to provide support for students on this scheme.
