UB Fellows come to ICU

Update: June 30, 2025

At International Christian University (ICU), we welcomed faculty members selected from universities across Asia for the Spring Term of Academic Year 2025-2026 through the United Board Fellows Program (UB Fellows Program).

Supported by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UB), this program was established to provide selected faculty members from Asian universities with the opportunity to stay at ICU for one to three months. During their stay, fellows engage in training designed to help them develop leadership skills for the future management and operation of their home institutions. In addition, ICU faculty members serve as mentors, offering advice and support to help fellows make the most of their experiences at ICU.

For the 2025 program, the following three UB fellows came to Japan to learn and observe what goes on at ICU.

Ms. Christine Joy Ballada
Associate Professor, Counseling and Educational Psychology Department (former Dean of Student Affairs), De La Salle University (Philippines)
Specialization: Psychology, Statistics
ICU Mentor: Professor CHAN, Christian

Ms. TRUONG THI THU HANG
Dean, Faculty of Anthropology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam)
Specialization: Anthropology
ICU Mentor: Associate Professor BROWN, Bernardo Enrique

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Như Ngọc
Vice Dean, Faculty of English Linguistics and Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam)
Specialization: Translation Studies, Interpretation, Linguistics
ICU Mentor: Associate Professor FUJII, Akiko

The fellows stayed at ICU from late March to late April. Early in their stay, they were welcomed by President Shoichiro Iwakiri, Vice President for Academic Affairs Robert Eskildsen, and Vice President for International Academic Exchange Mark Williams. During their stay, they participated in interviews with faculty and staff, attended classes, toured campus facilities, and took part in various meetings and events, making for a fulfilling and productive experience. UB Study Trip Fellows also participated in part of the program, further deepening international networks and cross-cultural understanding.

Through the UB Fellows Program, ICU will continue to deepen exchanges with higher education institutions across Asia, promote greater awareness of our university's educational and research activities, and further contribute to society.
