The Z-Hai Softball Tournament Was Held

Update: May 19, 2026

On Sunday, May 17, as record high temperatures were observed across Japan and central Tokyo reached a midsummer high of 30.2°C, the ground and field in the "Mitaka Forest" area of Osawa, Mitaka City were filled with energy--almost as if the heat had risen another 5 degrees.
This was the day of the Z-Hai Softball Tournament.

The Z-Hai Softball Tournament is an event that brings together first-year students, upperclassmen, and alumni alike, providing an opportunity to get moving, have fun, and connect through softball.
Nearly 200 participants, including both current students and alumni, took part in the event,
forming 16 teams (two more than last year) and engaging in spirited competition throughout the day.

The final game reached a dramatic climax: two outs in the final inning with runners on second and third, in a tense, one-run game where a single mistake could determine the outcome.
In the end, the student team "AMICI," formed by a group of friends, secured their second consecutive championship.(The runner-up was "Artemis+," a mixed team of alumni and current students originally centered around the archery club.)

Alumni returning to campus after a long time, along with students who spend their daily lives at ICU,
regardless of age or background, were seen fully immersed in the game — batting, running, throwing, and catching — chasing the white ball (which, in reality, is bright orange) with enthusiasm.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy the event regardless of gender or generation,Z-Hai adopts "Joyful Ball" along with its inclusive set of rules.

We look forward to seeing both this year's participants — students and alumni alike — as well as those considering joining next year, back at ICU again for another gathering.
