[IMPORTANT NOTICE TO STUDENTS] ICU Guidelines concerning the New Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Update: March 6, 2020

On February 17 (Mon.), the Japanese Government released medical consultation guidelines with regard to the new Coronavirus (COVID-19). What follows are the ICU guidelines based on the governmental ones. Please act prudently as below, especially if you are planning to travel during the Spring break.


★You are, in principle, prohibited from travelling to Korea.
★You are, in principle, prohibited from traveling to China.
★If you, including dorm residents, unavoidably travel to any country or area with a Level 2 or 3 Warning on Infectious Diseases designated by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), in principle, stay away from ICU campus for 2 weeks after returning to Japan.

If you (may have) had contact with people infected with the virus, but do not have a fever or flu-like symptoms:
(Example: You found out that you were with people infected with the virus on public transport): Wear a facemask when you go out and carefully observe your condition for 2 weeks.


If you have a fever of 37.5°C or more or flu-like symptoms:

  1. Stay home. Refrain from attending classes or participating in extra-curricular activities. Dormitory residents should make sure to follow all university instructions. Use the same toilet and sink each time; other dorm members should not use these toilets/sinks. Tableware and towels should not be shared with other dorm members.
  2. If you feel extreme fatigue or have problems breathing:
    Call the Center for People with Potential Exposure to COVID-19 at the local Public Health Center [see below] immediately and seek treatment at the medical facility designated by the Center.
  3. Those who are pregnant, or with chronic diseases such as diabetes or heart problems:
    If your fever and flu-like symptoms continue for 2 days, call the Center for People with Potential Exposure to COVID-19 at the local Public Health Center [see below] and seek treatment at the medical facility designated by the Center.
  4. Others:
    If your fever and/or flu-like symptoms continue for 4 days, call the Center for People with Potential Exposure to COVID-19 at the local Public Health Center [see below] and seek treatment at the medical facility designated by the Center.

■ If you have tested positive for the virus or have been diagnosed with a possible risk of carrying the virus, refrain from coming to the campus until you have permission from your doctor. Contact the ICU Healthcare Office (TEL: 0422-33-3119) immediately.
